Review by Mike Strickland
Wildflowers of the Southeastern United States is perfect for identifying wildflowers in the field. A particularly useful feature is the format of text descriptions on the left page and photos of the flowers on the right page. Some knowledge of technical terms is required, but most of them can be learned from the diagrams, text and glossary in the introduction. All measurements are metric, but there is a metric ruler printed in the front and back covers. The text is particularly useful in that it not only provides the description of the plant in question, but also provides characteristics of other similar plants which will allow the reader to easily differentiate through comparisons. Information provided for each plant include, Genus species, Common Name(s), Plant Description, Geographic Range, Habitat, and Bloom Time. This book is out of print, but copies are available via used bookstores and the internet.
